Standing
Alone
"Brother
Mark, how can I stand alone for Christ?" Sometimes this
comes from a man talking about his work place, or a teenager speaking
about his home life, or from a prisoner. There are hundreds of godly
soul winners who endure an aloneness in witnessing and walking with
Christ. There are a number of Scripture verses that really
encourage those "alone" saints. "No man stood with me,
but all men forsook me" (2 Timothy 4:16) is one. But also
add the next verse which says, "Not withstanding the Lord
stood with me, and strengthened me." The single greatest
truth for our daily Christian service is the fact that Jesus is with
us. Hebrews 13:5 is not a verse to quote glibly. Meditate on it and
let it affect your thoughts, emotions, and your soul. "I
will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Again, the next
verse continues with how this truth should impact us. "So
that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear
what man shall do unto me."
Standing
alone has been the lot of many great servants of God. Daniel prayed
alone. It brought him a night in a lion's den, but who else was
there? Jeremiah preached and prophesied alone, wept alone. God
even told him he would see almost no results. He stumbled, but the
Lord came and helped him. David spent much time alone. Again, it
was the reality of God's personal presence (Ps. 139:8-12)
that strengthened him.
Let
me give some practical suggestions for all those who serve God in an
alone setting.
1.
Practice the Presence of God
See his help in the little provisions of encouragement or in seeing
God's Word touch lives. He promised to be with us, let's look
for Him
2.
Rejoice in the Promises of God John 15:9 promises that the
world will hate God's servants. But, Isaiah 55:10-11 & Mark
